Tanzania has had the following 'umbrella' trade unions:-

-    The Tanganyika Federation of  Labour (TFL), 1955.

-    The National Union of Tanganyika Workers (TUCTA), 1964.

-    Jumuiya ya Wafanyakazi Tanzania (JUWATA), 1978.

-    The Organisation of Tanzania Trade Unions (OTTU), 1991.

-    Tanzania Federation of Free Trade Unions (TFTU).

-    The Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA), 200.
