Getting ready for a day at the beach should be simple and that includes your makeup routine. While the heavy makeup that you may use for a night out on the town or for the long sunless winters works well, the beach is a whole different world. Beach makeup should be light, fun, protective, and waterproof. If you’re hitting the waves soon, follow these tips for makeup perfection.
Eyes: Nothing looks worse than a beautiful face masked with running black mascara. Unfortunately, the beach is one of the prime places for this makeup disaster to transpire. Between the blistering temperatures, the ocean, and the pool, your bound to have moisture of some type ruin your makeup. This makes the number one beach makeup must have water proof mascara. If you don’t have waterproof mascara you’re better off just going without it and preventing the dreaded raccoon eyes. Lips: Leave the bright color lip sticks at home and swap them out for some sheer lip gloss that encompasses your natural beauty. Regardless of what you choose to cover those lips make sure it’s ready to protect you from the sun. Choose lip glosses, sticks, and balms that offer SPF 15 protection. The salt water and dry air often found on the beach can also take a toll on your lips by removing moisture from them so make sure you choose something with added moisturizers. Your Skin: beach makeup should be light and ready for whatever the day may bring your way. Since you will be in and out of the water or perspiring due to the super hot temperatures, you may want to limit the amount of foundation and cover up you use and stick the bare essentials. Event hough you need little foundation, especially once the snow start to paint your face with that bronzed glow, you do need to pay a little attention to your delicate face. Make sure to moisturize your face daily. Look for moisturizers that offer that necessary sun protection. SPF 15 is generally the lowest you should go especially if you have fair skin that is prone to freckling and burning. Even though your skin routine should be simple while sitting beach side, when you go out for the evening you’ll want to glam up. Take advantage of the color the sun has left on your face and use translucent powdered in the areas you need them most like your t-zone . You can also use a bit of blush to really bring that beach goddess out. Be sun savvy and make sure your makeup matches your tone and only use it to bring out the glow not to cover it. Hair: Few things on the beach are kind to your hair. T he salt water and chlorine can leave it begging for moisture and the breeze can leave you in desperate need of a brush. Keep this in mind when you pack your hair accessories and make sure you have plenty of conditioner, hair ties to pull back those beach worthy tresses, as well as a hat for those days you just can’t win the battle with your messy mane.

By: P.

A lot of skin care products out there claim to be “all natural,” but what does that really mean? The truth is that many of these products are anything but natural…here’s how you can find out if your favourite product is a hoax.

Natural products must contain natural ingredients…this makes sense, right? Well, the problem is that a lot of cosmetics companies hastily paste the words “all natural” on a product without actually checking their ingredient list. Certain things are undeniably natural, though some things take a bit more investigating to comprehend.

When you think of natural products, what do you think of? Most people will automatically conjure up images of water, mud, vitamins, and certain minerals. These things are truly natural items, which mean that any skin care product made from them is bound to be all natural. Why does all of this “natural detective work” really matter?

Since your skin will absorb anything that you put on it, those things that seep into your skin every time you apply a skin care lotion or cream really do make a difference. While most people wouldn’t dare bathe in a large tub full of chemicals, this is essentially what you are doing to your skin when you spread chemical based skin care products on it.

The biggest issue that many people face is the health & beauty industry itself. As companies grow larger, they begin to add various marketing phrases to skin care products. For example, even though a product may not contain any amount of natural ingredients, many skin care companies still use the term “natural.”

As a consumer, it might be hard to tell natural products from those that are filled with synthetic ingredients. In order to make sure that you are purchasing a product that is truly good for your skin, take the time to read a bit about the product itself. Aside from consumer reviews, good skin care companies should have plenty of literature related to their products.

Learn about all aspects of a skin care product from the ingredients to the filtering process. If there is an ingredient that you are unsure of, spend some time researching this ingredient. Most all natural skin care companies openly list all details of a product on their website.

If you think that a product is not natural (even though the bottle claims that it is), stay away from this product if you want to protect your skin. Skin is a hard thing to take care of, which is why it requires a lot of attention and care. The more that you learn about your skin, the easier it will be to avoid aging quickly.

As soon as you learn how to read labels, care for your skin, and research a product, you will be able to start your skin on the path to that desired vibrant, youthful, look. Remember – even though a label might say that a product is all natural, it isn’t necessarily the truth.

By: Jerzy George

Want to know the makeup and beauty trends for 2010? Discovering the makeup and beauty trends for 2010 will ensure you are fashion forward this year and looking your beautiful best. Fashions and styles trend in and out with what seems little sense to the uninitiated but the upcoming seasons beauty do’s are plain to see when you are keeping your finger on the pulse of the industry. So without further ado, let us take a look at what is to come for 2010.

Big Picture Beauty Patterns

Inspiration comes from a variety of sources for the beauty industry. Designers can often find design inspiration from nature, their friends, their city or from more intimate encounters. 2010 has inspiration coming from the individual, the beauty that comes from within, rather than without. So what does that mean for fashion and beauty? Behold…

1. The runway is being overrun by natural beauty inspired collections. Makeup is understated, and being used to call out the natural sparkle of the wearer. Designers are no longer calling for wild eye catching colors to call attention, but rather seeking warm and inviting looks that hold attention once found. As makeup is concerned, expect more beautifully bold eyebrows that are thick and youthful. There is no need for plucking and pain and instead spend your time puffing and colorizing. Textures will be light and used sparingly, highlights given just a flair of color to bring out the natural curves that can be found in the wearer’s bone structure. The real excitement with makeup this 2010 is going on with the eyes.

2. Eye makeup and shadow is your true chance to shine this year as the trending is making this the focus of your true understated beauty. Natural makeup to blend in, and bold vibrant, rich eye makeup to hold the focus of your attention. Dark smoky colors shades are in, and cats eye greens, grays and coal black eyeliner create the hint of allure and danger.

3. Beaded makeup used to add a touch of flair to offset the understated elegance of natural trends. Designers and models are falling in love with adding beads, typically reserved for jewelry, to their makeup tool kit. A well placed colored bead lightly placed high on the cheek bone or above the lip can create a beautiful brilliance that hints at all the personality held within the understated styles of the season. For the more gregarious, beading patterns set into wrist and top of the hand for special engagements is making a splash among celebrities as well. Think henna with beautiful light catching beads.

4. When it comes to lips this 2010, avoid bold colors and use the seductive classic colors of plum, wine dark reds, and lighter crimsons. The lips are being used to draw in your pray rather than to over power them. Attract them with the hints of the allures and emotions of she who resides beneath your strong and collected exterior.

5. The final beauty accessory making a comeback this coming season are the subtle custom jewelry pieces used to complement your overall makeup result. Highly personal unique pieces used to accentuate your style are all the rage, you can put your huge diamonds away this season as 2010 has custom self made jewelry with a style trumping expense.

By: Faye Hopkins

The term “natural beauty” gets thrown around often enough that many people don’t actually know what natural beauty is. Is natural beauty a way of avoiding having to enhance one’s appearance for public presentation? Does it mean that a natural beauty only uses things made from nature? Or is a natural beauty someone who can look great no matter what? To some degree or another, the answer to all of these questions is yes.

To start, natural beauty doesn’t require anything. If someone is said to have natural beauty, that person can get up in the morning and still look as though just a change in clothes ought to be enough to appear dazzling. The person in question doesn’t need to look like a super model. After all, many super models spend hours dealing with hair, clothing, make-up, and even the right way to stand for a picture or show. No. Natural beauty doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with specific body features. A little enhancement never hurts to bring forward someone’s natural radiance.

Even though natural beauty is defined as looking great without enhancement, that doesn’t mean that someone doesn’t or shouldn’t use clothing, styling, or make-up to enhance what’s already there. For most natural beauties, styling is usually much lighter than for everyone else. In the case of make-up, many natural beauties use colors that blend with the skin so well that it looks as if the extra pigment was there to begin with. Hair styles are usually simple for most days, and clothing isn’t always something from the latest fad. For many people with natural beauty, dressing is a matter of what feels good as opposed to what looks good. Ironically, someone who dresses to feel good often looks great!

So what about those enhancers? Are they only made from nature? This is usually the case. Many natural products are priced beyond the capability of some people’s finances. Therefore, many people wanting natural products get what they can at the best price and fill in the gaps as best as possible with other products. Sometimes, natural enhances are as simple as not using hair spray and sticking to shampoos that have natural extracts. A lot of people use home remedies to take care of minor problems that occur in the skin and hair. Diet and exercise are great ways of treating the appearance from within. It’s always easy to tell who feels healthy and who doesn’t based on how they present themselves, and using natural products from the inside out is a great way to feel healthy.

Natural beauty is no mystery. It’s easily within everyone’s grasp, and no one has to portray themselves as hippies to achieve it. Natural beauty is more about presenting oneself in a style that suits that person individually without major fuss.

By: James A. Penn

The reality is that the media and common misconceptions have lowered expectations for people with disabilities. Disabled people often have aids such as canes, crutches, wheelchairs, medical devices, and other technology, it’s important that these devices be well cared for so as to enhance natural beauty.

Mobility aids are items meant to assist a person with some physical activity such as walking. These usually include wheelchairs, walkers, support canes, and canes specifically for navigation by the blind. All of these items need to be cleaned on a regular basis. They need to be as free from nicks as possible. That’s not to say that a few nicks here and there are of much importance. When a cane or wheelchair looks like it’s been through a war, it might be time to give it a make-over or replace it altogether. Most mobility aids such as wheelchairs come with a few replaceable parts, or one can order these parts separately. White canes for the blind need to be relatively nickless. Some canes are made with replaceable reflective tape, and other canes are simply painted white. For canes painted white, one could try using a white marker or a little paint to fix up the nicked spot and make it look nicer. Cane tips are totally replaceable and so are sections of folding and telescopic canes. Walkers with wheels that squeak may need some WD40 to relieve everyone’s ears of the annoyance. Keeping these little things in mind make a huge difference in how disabled people are perceived on a daily basis.

Then there’s the question of service animals. While laws prevent people from discriminating against disabled people on account of service animals, it’s always a good idea to make sure they are well groomed to increase the comfort of those who may be present. It’s also worth noting that groomed animals tend to have better hygiene. Schools meant for service animals and their handlers often include classes on animal care such as brushing, nail clipping, dental hygiene, and medical care. Make sure that all harnesses and leashes are equally cared for, and that there are hygiene bags for use after the dog or animal has been relieved. Besides an animal’s health and the look of mobility aids, there’s also the question of personal health and hygiene.

Many disabled people have conditions that require the use of medical equipment. Always remember to have that equipment on hand at all times in case of emergency or just for daily maintenance. Be sure that all equipment has been cleaned or is cleaned on a daily basis. Any equipment carrying body fluid must be free of leaks as some body fluids aren’t preferable to most noses. To eliminate the problem, it’s not a bad idea to regularly flush the equipment if it’s convenient to do so.

Disabled people, just like anyone else, are capable of natural beauty. Making sure that aids, animals, and medical equipment are clean and cared for add pride and confidence to a person’s appearance. Confidence breeds success, and success breeds true freedom.

By: James A. Penn
